George Thorogood Haircut album cover by Peter Bagge
Apparently, George Thorogood is not a big fan of Peter Bagge.
The alternative comics artist (Hate, Neat Stuff), did the cover for Thorogood’s 1993 album Haircut. Bagge was at the height of his popularity at the time, thanks to the alternative comics boom. Someone at Thorogood’s record company must have thought it would be a good idea to try to give the blues-rocker some hip cache.
So, when I interviewed Thorogood recently for the Vancouver Sun to preview a show in Vancouver, I asked about the cover. This is what he had to say.
Q: Your 1993 album Haircut features the art of Seattle cartoonist Peter Bagge. How did that come about?
A: That was a record company and management, that was their decision, not mine.
Q: Were you happy with the result?
A: I was happy with the results of the song, yes.
