Vancouver’s Anciients get Juno nod

2018 Juno Awards nominees, B.C. edition

Nominees for the 2018 Juno Awards have just been announced.

The local metal scene is getting lots of love, with both Anciients and Archspire up for Metal/Hard Music Album of the Year. And two Vancouver comedians, Charlie Demers and Ivan Decker, are nominated for the first-ever Comedy Album Juno.

Other categories featuring B.C. artists include Video of The Year (Emma Higgins for Mother Mother‘s “The Drugs” and Grimes (ft. Janaelle Moane), for her own “Venus Fly“); Dance Recording of the Year and Jack Richardson Producer of the Year (Felix Cartal); Instrumental Album of The Year (Five Alarm Funk and Peregrine Falls); Jack Richardson Producer of the Year (Brian Howes & Jason Van Poederooyen).

Other B.C. artists include Jocelyn Morlock (Classical Composition of the Year), Hedley, Shawn Hook and Theory (JUNO Fan Choice) (Williams, Wayne and Isaak (Blues Album of the Year). Other nominees include Bobs & LoLo for Children’s Album of the Year, Bria Skonberg, Diana Krall and Michael Kaeshammer for Vocal Jazz Album of the Year and Christine & Ingrid Jensen for Jazz Album of the Year: Group. Michael Bublé, who is hosting the awards show, is nominated in the Adult Contemporary Album of the Year.

Winners will be announced during the March 25 broadcast of the 2018 Juno Awards. A full list of nominees can be found at junoawards.ca.
